The year 2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the first Wallace
fountain. To celebrate the occasion, many wonderful public activities are being planned for the fall, including an outdoor exhibition on the Avenue des Champs Elysées near Place de la Concorde.
The celebration, called Fontaines Wallace 2022, is being organized by Paris City Hall under the leadership of Mme. Karen Taïeb, deputy mayor of the City of Paris in charge of heritage, the history of Paris and relations with the churches, and with participation from many organizations including the Society of the Wallace Fountains.

L'année 2022 marque le 150e anniversaire de la première fontaine Wallace. Pour fêter l'occasion, de belles animations publiques sont prévues à l'automne, dont une exposition en plein air sur l'avenue des Champs Elysées près de la place de la Concorde.
La célébration, baptisée Fontaines Wallace 2022, est organisée par la Mairie de Paris sous la houlette de Mme Taïeb, adjointe à la Maire de Paris chargée du patrimoine, de l'histoire de Paris et des relations avec les cultes, avec la participation de nombreuses organisations dont la Société des Fontaines Wallace.

Paris Gets Three New Wallace Fountains
Paris se dote de trois nouvelles fontaines Wallace

|
Without fanfare and little public notice, three new Wallace fountains were quietly installed in Paris in 2020. The three fountains were supplied by GHM-Sommevoire, the foundry that exclusively
manufactures Wallace fountains.
The 18th Arr. was lucky to get two new fountains. One was installed at Place Michel Petrucciani. The other was installed during work on the new T3 tramway in north Paris. It faces 4 rue Henri Brisson at the corner of Boulevard Ney.
The third Wallace fountain was installed in the 9th Arr. on rue Bourdaloue alongside the church, Notre Dame de Lorette. With these additions,
Paris now can boast of having 104 grand model caryatid Wallace fountains within the Boulevard Périphérique.

Sans tambour ni trompette, trois nouvelles fontaines Wallace ont été tranquillement installées à Paris en 2020. Les trois nouvelles fontaines ont été fournies par GHM-Sommevoire, la fonderie qui fabrique
exclusivement les fontaines Wallace.
Le 18ème arr. a eu la chance d'avoir deux nouvelles fontaines. L'une a été installée place Michel Petrucciani. L'autre a été installée lors des travaux du nouveau tramway T3 au nord de Paris. Elle fait face au 4 rue Henri Brisson à l'angle du boulevard Ney.
La troisième fontaine Wallace a été installée dans le 9ème arr. sur la rue Bourdaloue à côté de l'église. Avec ces ajouts, Paris peut désormais se vanter d'avoir 104 fontaines Wallace à cariatides grand modèle dans le périmètre du boulevard périphérique.

| Après avoir été fermé plusieurs années pour rénovation complète, le musée Carnavalet, le musée d’histoire de Paris a rouvert au public en 2021. Dans la partie XIXe siècle du musée, vous pourrez découvrir une vitrine avec une cariatide provenant d'une fontaine Wallace. Cette cariatide particulière représente la vertu de la simplicité et la saison du printemps.
Le musée aura bientôt sa propre fontaine Wallace. Une fontaine Wallace historique entièrement restaurée sera installée dans la cour du musée au printemps 2022. La fontaine fonctionnelle distribuera de l'eau et rappellera aux visiteurs son
importance historique en tant que l'un des monuments les plus appréciés du paysage urbain parisien.

Ever wonder how the Wallace fountains work? How does the water flow from
the dome? Where does it go? This schematic drawing of the workings of a Wallace fountain gives details about the plumbing necessary to make the fountains work.
Some fountains in Paris have been modified to include push buttons and misting features, but all dispense clean, refreshing drinking water supplied by Eau de Paris. You can even learn the original source of the water and the mineral content from the small plaques on the fountain’s pedestal. Eau de Paris works tirelessly to make sure city water is clean and safe, so you can drink from Wallace fountains with confidence.

The Wallace Fountain in Los Angeles, California USA

Elliot and Michael Lewis were responsible for acquiring and installing a Wallace fountain in Westwood Village, an established business district in Los Angeles, California USA and located immediately
south of the famed UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) campus.
In 1976, Elliot and his wife Penny were vacationing in the south of France. In Villeneuve Loubet, a small town located west of Nice, they spotted this Wallace fountain outside an antique store. They were told it came from Paris. They purchased the fountain and made arrangements for it to be shipped to California.
The brothers gifted it to the Village, wanting to create something really interesting and beautiful for Westwood, and they did. The fountain was installed at its current location in 1976.

Elliot et Michael Lewis ont été responsables de l'acquisition et de l'installation d'une fontaine Wallace à Westwood Village, un quartier d'affaires établi à Los Angeles, en Californie, aux États-Unis, et situé immédiatement au sud du célèbre campus de l'UCLA (Université de Californie, Los Angeles).
En 1976, Elliot et sa femme Penny étaient en vacances dans le sud de la France. À Villeneuve Loubet, une petite ville à l'ouest de Nice, ils ont repéré cette fontaine Wallace
